The Four Phases of the Cycle


Menstrual Phase – Winter

This is the time of bleeding, when the body releases and renews. Just like winter, it carries quiet energy. Rest, reflection, and warmth are especially nourishing now. Many find comfort in cozy blankets, herbal teas, and gentle movement like stretching or walking.


Follicular Phase – Spring

After bleeding, energy begins to rise. This is the season of growth. Creativity, inspiration, and lightness naturally emerge. It is a wonderful time to start new projects, try something fresh, or explore playful movement like dance or yoga.


Ovulation Phase – Summer

This is the full bloom of the cycle. Energy peaks and communication often flows with ease. You may feel more social, expressive, and outwardly radiant. This is a beautiful time for connection, whether through relationships, community, or creative expression.


Luteal Phase – Autumn

As the body prepares for the next bleed, energy gradually turns inward. Just as autumn brings a harvest and then release, this phase encourages you to finish projects, tie up loose ends, and listen closely to your inner world. Sensitivity often rises, offering clarity about what is truly aligned.


The Moon Connection

The menstrual cycle often mirrors the phases of the moon. Some bleed with the new moon, a time of darkness and renewal, while others bleed with the full moon, a time of brightness and release. Both patterns are natural. Noticing how your cycle aligns with the moon can deepen your sense of connection to the greater rhythms of life.

Living With the Seasons Within

When you recognize these inner seasons, you can begin to adjust your life in small ways:


  • Schedule restful activities during your menstrual phase.

  • Start new goals or habits during your follicular phase.

  • Plan social gatherings or presentations around ovulation.

  • Allow space for reflection and completion during the luteal phase.


These simple shifts create harmony between your body’s needs and the flow of daily life.
